Start a Chapter

Start a Chapter

Starting an EWGA Chapter is simple and fun! It is a great way to make new friends, build business contacts, and develop personal and professional skills while making a difference in the lives of women and in your community.

New EWGA Chapters are forming all the time, thanks to committed and dedicated volunteers like you who want to bring the EWGA experience of empowering women through golf to their area.

How do we do it?  Let's take a brief peek into the formation of an EWGA Chapter.  . . .

EWGA New Chapter Development Process

Starting an EWGA Chapter is a simple process that is clearly laid out for you by a member of the EWGA Chapter Development Team.  Your own personal Chapter Development Representative is assigned to guide you through the formation process and assist you every step of the way. The process of developing an EWGA Chapter can be viewed in the following phases.

  • Planning an EWGA Information Session:

An EWGA Information Session is a time for interested women to come together and learn about EWGA and the benefits of having a Chapter in their area. This includes benefits to them personally as well as for the community. Planning commences when someone (typically the New Chapter Coordinator or a Golf Professional) is willing to gather a handful of people together to plan, promote and host the Information Session. The planning and promotion process generally takes three to four weeks

  • Hosting an EWGA Information Session:

At the Information Session an EWGA Representative provides an overview of the Association, builds enthusiasm, answers questions and helps identify key leaders to serve on the forming Chapter's Organizing Committee.

  • Organizing Committee Session:

The Organizing Committee gathers within two weeks following the Information Session to begin building the Chapter structure. Under the guidance of their EWGA Chapter Development Representative, they lay the foundation which prepares the Chapter to officially affiliate with the EWGA. The committee may choose to meet two or three times during this part of the organizing phase. Affiliation typically occurs five to eight weeks following the Information Session.

  • Chapter Growth & Development:

Once the Chapter has officially affiliated with the Association, they work with an EWGA New Chapter Specialist who advises and guides them through the development process. Training and support is provided to help the Chapter board and its committees continue to build their Chapter. Chapter growth and development occurs through the continued increase in membership, the planning and implementation of EWGA programs and the establishment of organizational pieces that help the Chapter grow into the EWGA Chapter model. Association staff and volunteers are here to assist you every step of the way.
